What is Chlorella?

Chlorella is a green algae. The name Chlorella derives from two Latin words meaning 'leaf' (green) and
'small', referring to the unusually high content of chlorophyll (the highest of any known plant) which gives
Chlorella its characteristic deep emerald-green color. Algae are a group of one-celled plants, containing no
true root, stem or leaf. This particular fresh-water, single celled microscopic plant contains a host of health
building nutrients. In addition to chlorophyll it contains vitamins, minerals, dietary fiber, nucleic acids,
amino acids, enzymes, CGF (Chlorella Growth Factor) and other substances. Under the favorable growth
conditions of strong sunlight, pure water and clean air, Chlorella multiplies at an incredible rate, the
complete reproduction cycle taking less than 24 hours.

Chlorella has been more thoroughly researched than perhaps any other food in history. There are thousands
of research papers on Chlorella from medical institutions, scientific journals and universities. One of the most
fascinating aspects of Chlorella is the CGF or Chlorella Growth Factor.

Chlorella has a number of properties which are helpful to organs and tissues that have been injured by a
variety of causes. It has been demonstrated to promote liver health.
It has been called the "great
normalizer" putting body functions that are out of balance back in harmony.
Although some
positive effects of taking Chlorella may be felt immediately, such as correcting constipation and bad breath,
Chlorella's full nutritive and detoxifying prowess will take 3-6 months to be fully appreciated. Chlorella

Chlorella promotes growth in young people, which is believed to be related to Chlorella's capacity to
stimulate the healing process in the body and stifle many diseases. This is most likely related to its nucleic
acid content because substances in Chlorella that accelerate growth in young people promote repair of
damaged tissue in mature animals and humans.

Chlorella has a strengthening effect on body cells by strengthening our metabolic pathways. Chlorella has an

Mice that were injected with cancer cells showed a higher resistance to this challenge if they had been fed
Chlorella. Other tests showed that the Chlorella growth factor improves resistance to abdominal tumors
while increasing the number of immune cells in the abdominal cavity. Chlorella promotes cell reproduction,
reduces cholesterol and increases hemoglobin levels. Because of its broad nutritional and detoxifying profile,
Chlorella promotes the repair of bodily organs and tissues that have been injured or otherwise damaged.

Numerous research projects in the USA and Europe indicate that
Chlorella can also aid the body in the
breakdown of persistent hydrocarbon and metallic toxins such as DDT, PCB, mercury, cadmium and

In Japan, interest in Chlorella has focused
largely on its detoxifying properties--its ability to neutralize or remove poisonous substances from the body.
The fibrous materials in Chlorella will also improve digestion and promote the growth of beneficial aerobic

regular use of Chlorella helps guard against heart

Chlorella is a plant with 5 to 10 times the chlorophyll content of any other algae.
Chlorella has a tough indigestible cell wall, which detoxifies the body by binding with heavy metals as it
passes through. Sporopollenin, which is only present in Chlorella Pyrensoida, acts in the same detoxifying
way. Chlorella Growth Factor (CGF), unique to Chlorella, causes the benign lactobacillus, which is crucial to
digestion to multiply at four times the normal rate and also accelerates the regrowth of damaged tissue. This

Pyrensoida. Watershed Chlorella is this very particular strain of Chlorella. It is a green algae, one of the oldest

T-cells in the body are active against viruses and cancer. Macrophages are large cells that surround and digest
foreign substances in the body. They are active against cancer, foreign proteins and chemicals. There are a
finite number in the human body, therefore limiting the ability of the body to remove harmful substances
from the blood. Chlorella has been shown to promote the production of interferon, one of our body's

magnesium molecule at that center of it; hemoglobin has an iron molecule at the center of it. This is
important because magnesium is essential for the heart to function properly. Every time our heart beats, it is
utilizing magnesium to do so. Chlorophyll has been used successfully in the treatment of cardiac
hypertension. It also cleanses that bowel, kidneys, liver and bloodstream. Chlorophyll is effective against
anemia and stimulates the production of red blood cells in the body. It also helps carry oxygen around the
body and to the brain. This is why Chlorella is often called "Brain Food".



Contains Natural Digestive and other Enzymes
Chlorella contains enzymes such as chlorophyllase and pepsin, which are digestive enzymes. Enzymes perform
a myriad of functions in the body. In fact, you can not even blink without the presence of enzymes. Chlorella
has many different types of enzymes that our bodies need. It is essential that any algae you take is NOT
freeze dried or pasteurized. If it is, then you have lost the crucial benefit of enzymes such as these.

What is Spirulina?

Spirulina
( Spirulina Pacifica ) is a microscopic freshwater plant, an aquatic micro-vegetable/organism
composed of transparent bubble-thin cells stacked end-to-end forming a helical spiral filament.

It is a whole-food, not a concentrate, not an extract. It is detoxifying. A person can not eat too much
and overdose on Spirulina. It contains more bio-chelated organic iron than any other whole-food.
Bio-chelated means that the iron will easily be assimilated into the body. Spirulina has 58 times the iron of
raw spinach and 28 times that of raw beef liver.

It contains more beta-carotene than any other whole food. Beat-carotene determines how our cells
communicate with one another. "Beta carotene opens the membrane communication channels of cancerous
and pre-cancerous cells, allowing the body to signal the cancerous cells to stop dividing. Therefore, foods rich
in beta carotene may not only be able to prevent but also reverse cancers. (Wolf 1992)" (Spirulina, Nature's

1989).

Be Aware: There is another species of blue green algae, Aphanizomenon Flos Aqua (AFA), which grows
naturally in
Klamath Lake, Oregon, and a few other places in the world. It is widely available and sells under
different names, including the generic name Blue Green Algae. It is recommended this algae not be consumed
for several reasons.
Klamath Lake is a migratory pathway for thousands of birds, thus the AFA algae is
contaminated and extremely high in bacteria.
Under these circumstances, AFA algae must be freeze dried to
kill the bacteria. This process, however, destroys the enzymes in the AFA algae. The centerpiece of Spirulina
and Chlorella are its enzymes because nothing is more needed by the body than enzymes.  Although they are
both blue green algae and have somewhat similar nutritional profiles on paper, Aphanizomenon Flos Aqua
and Spirulina Pacifica could not be more different. They are entirely separate species of algae, as can be
inferred from their Latin names. AFA algae is one of six known algae that produce toxins, either hepatotoxins
or neurotoxins. The neurotoxins in AFA algae are neosaxitoxin and anatoxin. "Structurally, anatoxin-a does
not resemble decamethonium, but instead is similar to the tropane alkaloids, specifically cocaine." ( Toxicon ,
vol. 17, "Pharmacology of Anatoxin-a, Produced by the Freshwater Cyanphyte, AFA NRC-44-1," by
Carmichael, Biggs and Peterson, 1979, pg 229. )

Spirulina Pacifica is a superior strain of Spirulina compared to other strains such as Spirulina Plantensis. It
contains three times the beta carotene, twice the SOD, ten times the calcium and four times the iron than
other Spirulina strains. It is cultivated using advanced techniques of strain selection, which further refines the
algae with each generation.

Spirulina produces all its nutrients by harvesting sunlight. It gathers and transforms sunlight into green and
blue pigments that make it a blue green algae. The blue is an amino acid group found only in Spirulina called
phycocyanin, which accounts for its high concentration of vegetarian protein. The green in Spirulina is
chlorophyll, one of the best natural detoxifiers known.
